The Sandman Act II preview clip
Media Projects The Sandman

Here’s an audio clip of the upcoming second act of The Sandman, which premieres in two days, as shared by The AV Club. In the accompanying article, the following description is given:

In this exclusive clip, McAvoy and Dennings bring their comedic chops to the dark drama. Morpheus wants advice from his sister. Gaiman, in his narration, describes Death as having a “pale face with dark eye makeup and lipstick, her black hair toussled.” Death is in too much of a hurry to help her brother, who needs help after a recent visit to Hell, during which Lucifer handed the reins of down under to Morpheus. What should he do next? Death’s sarcastic suggestions include: “Open a skiing resort? Turn it into a theme park? Sell it to the highest bidder?” Honestly, a Hell-themed amusement park and rides sound like a great idea. The clip ends with Morpheus and Death realizing they better come up with ideas fast, because apparently, the dead are coming back.

This would be the first time we would see Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs starring as Max and Caroline, a financially troubled friendship that would keep going and growing on screen for six years and which would span 138 episodes with the support of talents such as Jennifer Coolidge, Matthew Moy, Garrett Morris and Jonathan Kite.

To celebrate, we invite you to discuss your favourite moment or memory from the show. Browse the 2 Broke Girls tag in our video vault and the show’s dedicated section in our image gallery. There is much to see, including over a thousand exclusive promotional photographs (and counting).

Kat Dennings On How She Feels About Natalie Portman In Thor: Love And Thunder And Whether Jane Misses Darcy
Press Articles

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is always growing, with characters returning after years away. Thor actors Kat Dennings and Natalie Portman certainly know this, as they were noticeably absent in Phase Three ahead of their returns in WandaVision and Thor: Love and Thunder respectively. And now Dennings has spoken about how she feels about her co-star’s Thor return, and whether Jane misses Darcy.

In the first Thor movie we met Kat Dennings and Natalie Portman’s characters, with the duo also appearing in the first sequel. But while Darcy returned in WandaVision, she’s not expected to star in Thor: Love and Thunder. Portman’s Jane will becoming Mighty Thor throughout the course of Taika Waititi’s sequel, and Dennings reacted to this news saying:

I thought it was genius. The most genius thing I’ve ever heard. It’s so brilliant. She’s a rockstar actor she can do anything. So I’m just so excited. As a fan, I’m just excited to watch it.

Same, though. While we won’t be seeing Darcy and Jane’s reunion in Thor: Love and Thunder, there’s no sore feelings for Kate Dennings. Instead, she’s eager to see Natalie Portman finally get superpowers of her own and get in on the action as Mighty Thor.

Kat Dennings’ comments to ET Online shows how even the cast of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are ultimately big fans. And since she’s a personal friend of Natalie Portman, the Two Broke Girls alum has even more interest in seeing Mighty Thor come to life. Although comic book fans know that this transformation will likely come with some emotional material for Portman to grapple with.

Marvel fans can re-watch Kat Dennings and Natalie Portman in the MCU on Disney+. You can use this link to sign up for the streaming service.

Later in that same interview, Kat Dennings mused more about Darcy’s connection to Jane Foster. When asked if she thinks Jane misses her character, the WandaVision actress got honest. Namely about her not knowing much. As she put it,

I’d love to think so, I wish I knew more. I genuinely do. I’m also really curious for this stuff… they just don’t… you have to sign 75 NDAs and they still don’t tell you anything.

Solid point. While folks like Kevin Feige know the direction of the overall MCU, security on the shared universe is notoriously tight. As such, Kat Dennings isn’t privy to what’s happening in Thor: Love and Thunder. More specifically, what Darcy and Jane’s relationship might look like nowadays.

Regardless, it’s great to see the return of these Thor characters in Phase Four of the MCU. Because while we’re being introduced to a slew of new characters, some classic favorites are also returning. We’ll just have to wait and see how it all shakes out, and if Darcy and Jane ever appear together onscreen.

Thor: Love and Thunder is currently expected to arrive in theaters on May 6th, 2022. In the meantime, check out the 2021 movie release dates to plan your next movie experience.

Project updates round-up
Dollface Originals Projects WandaVision

The Hollywood Critics Association TV Awards, which took place last Sunday, scored WandaVision two awards: the show won in the “Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Live Action TV Movie” category and, while Kat did not win the “Best Supporting Actress for a Limited Series, Anthology Series or Live Action TV Movie” award for which she was nominated, we are pleased to see it in the very good hands of co-star Kathryn Hahn.

Dollface has seemingly wrapped filming, as Kat posted a selfie to her Instagram captioned “she’s retired”. Last week, KABCRadio’s Gurvey’s Law show chatted with actress Fran Drescher, thus teasing her participation in the second season of Hulu’s show. Kat had previously expressed her wish of bringing Drescher to the show for the role of Jules’s mother. Unfortunately, the episode is not available online.

Finally, as for the upcoming The Sandman, Audible has released the official trailer for the second act, featuring the voice talent of James McAvoy as Morpheus, to premiere next month. Pre-order is available.

Kat Dennings talks about her Royal Canin partnership, cat health, digital age, and motivations
Press Articles

Actress and social media influencer Kat Dennings chatted with Digital Journal’s Markos Papadatos about her partnership with Royal Canin, which advocates for cat health, as well as being an actress in the digital age, and she furnished her definition of the word success.

Dennings is known for playing Max Black in the CBS sitcom “2 Broke Girls,” as well as for her portrayal of Darcy Lewis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero films “Thor,” and “Thor: The Dark World” and the Disney+ mini-series “WandaVision.”

Royal Canin

“The partnership with Royal Canin has been amazing and I really love how they advocate for cat health,” she said. “I care so much about cats and their wellbeing – from fostering (I follow a lot of fosters on Instagram, so I love that this is a priority for Royal Canin!) to educating cat lovers to stay curious about their cat’s health.”

Dennings continued, “One thing I’ve learned through my partnership is, unfortunately, half of all cats in the United States don’t receive veterinary care regularly. I’ve also recently learned, 83 percent of cats visit the vet before their first birthday, but over 50 percent don’t return until they become sick or are in pain.”

“I’m partnering with Royal Canin to urge cat owners to pledge to take their cats to the vet for annual wellness visits as part of Royal Canin’s ‘Take Your Cat To The Vet Day’ initiative,” she added.

For the cat lovers out there, she remarked, “To all my fellow cat lovers out there – please take your cat to the vet! Most cat owners say that when their cat is acting healthy, they don’t pay attention to the signs of aging, and are not sure what signs to even look for.”

“Unnoticed signs add up to cat owners not taking their cats to the vet on a yearly basis, which could lead to larger health issues, like a renal or urinary disease. Royal Canin and I are asking everyone to take the pledge to take their cat to the vet every year. Head on over to www.royalcanin.com/cathealth to take the pledge and learn more about cat health,” she said.

Motivations

Regarding her daily motivations as an actress, she said, “Even after acting for 25 years, I still can’t believe I get to essentially play pretend for a living. I feel lucky every day to do what I do!”

For young and aspiring actors, she said, “The world of acting, and the world itself, is constantly changing. Know that you’re never alone – lean on your friends and family if you have to – and be prepared to roll with the punches.”

Digital age

On being an actress in the digital age, she said, “Being an actress in the digital age has taught me a lot about the importance of adapting throughout my career. Growing up, you only had access to shows once a week or could only see a movie in the theater, then have to wait for it to come out on DVD/VHS!”

“Today, the game has totally changed,” she admitted. “Everything – new and old – is so accessible. I don’t think it’s a bad thing, I think it’s exciting. It gives audiences new ways to access your work, whether it’s safely watching it in the comfort of their own home during these crazy times or visiting the theaters.”

Regarding her definition of the word success, she concluded, “Living a life that feels authentic and fulfilling.”

IS THAT A GENUINE SMILE COMING OUT OF MY FACE?! IT IS THE SMILE OF SOMEONE WHO FINALLY HOODWINKED HER FAVORITE BEVERAGE INTO SPONSORING HER…IT’S SPINDRIFT SPARKLING WATER, BABY. Never in my life have I approached a brand ASKING to partner with them out of sheer adoration. As a passionate (yet not remotely professional) gardener, I’ve become obsessed with only allowing REAL FRUIT (not “natural flavor” – actual fruit) into my consumables. Once I realized that everything I was drinking was “flavored”, I went on the hunt. I discovered @drinkspindrift which is the FIRST sparkling water made with 100% ONLY REAL SQUEEZED FRUIT and I became an absolute psycho, slowly converting my friends and family to the Drifter lifestyle. I may be part Spindrift at this point, as it is actually the only water I drink. Anyway. More to come. #realfruittastesbetter#spindriftpartner
