Last week, Disney+ revealed four brand new character posters for WandaVision after debuting a “decade” series. Featured in the new collection are the protagonists, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, and also Kathryn Hahn and Teyonah Parris. So far, it is unclear whether Darcy and other secondary characters will get posters as well, if only through a composite.

In our reality, however, Darcy Lewis gets her own poster too. We created a mock graphic that goes along to the characters Disney/Marvel have released. It features an actual frame of Darcy in WandaVision and a nod to the Thor movies.

After decades surviving and thriving as a Hollywood landmark located in Franklin Avenue, the 101 Coffee Shop has reportedly closed its doors for good, an unfortunate collateral of the pandemic. Several celebrities are paying homage to the 60’s diner that welcomed them on so many occasions, for work and for leisure.

Kat joined them in an Instagram post where she remembered the café’s “purple haze milkshake” and several of the platform’s stories that attest to her long-time relationship with the eatery.

Cafe 101 you and your purple haze milkshake will live forever in my arteries. Everything happened in you! Everything

Kat’s friend, the filmmaker BenDavid Grabinski, also spoke about the loss of 101. “I wish I had more photos of trips to the 101. I’ve probably been there fifty times. I wrote there a lot. Lots of meetings. Plenty of very late night meals. I wish our government cared about something other than the stock market.” One of the aforementioned photos shared by Grabinski features our Miss Dennings.

Grabinski’s newest film, Happily, is scheduled to be released on March 19th in theatres, on VOD, and all digital platforms. We have gathered that Kat appears in the movie, albeit for one scene only, in the role of “Francesca”.

In the midst of supper preparations and homemade gifts shared with us via her Instagram stories, Kat took the time to post the following acknowledgement regarding the pandemic and how the Holidays should be spent during troubling times.

Before I post more cooking stuff:

This entire pandemic I’ve been very privileged to be able to stay home and commit to a small pod with immediate family. None of us shop, see any other people, go literally anywhere other than our two locations. It’s been a sacrifice for all of us but it’s how we decided to do things during this. I don’t want anyone to think I’m having a gathering without regard for this nightmare happening around us. ❤️

She’s also not forgotten her Jewish ancestry, nodding to the (already past) Hanukkah by using emojis to represent both festivities in a separate post.

Elf on the Shelf is the latest Instagram meme that’s being played among celebrities, consisting of celebrities appearing superimposed over the author’s very photograph. What makes it challenging? No random public figure will do; they have to make it rhyme.

Yesterday, actress Natalie Portman joined the trend by posting an edit where Kat — not exactly hard to spot in Max Black’s mustard and ketchup diner uniform — can be seen posing on her friend’s shoulder. “I give you #KatOnNat“, Thor‘s Jane Foster announced.

And today Kat stood up to the challenge as she posted an editorial image of herself reading a book in the company of a portable and adorable Natalie. “Why mess with a good thing #NatonKat @natalieportman I love when we read together”

“Love you, Kat. At your service as chair or shoulder-pad whenever, wherever.” Natalie Portman replied to Kat’s post.

Kat and Nat have been friends years before they worked together on Thor. They are both returning to the MCU soon with WandaVision and Thor: Love and Thunder, respectively.

As Entertainment Weekly is all up on WandaVision, new details concerning the Disney+ series are dropping online nonstop. Naturally, fans of Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany have their plate full but what of our Kat? So far, the beloved Darcy remains conspicuously absent from publicity stills and other teasers. EW even jokes:

Darcy the intern returns! Kat Dennings’ wise-cracking poli-sci student debuted in the Thor movies, as the assistant to Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster. Where’s she been for the last seven years? How does she cross paths with Wanda and Vision? And did she ever learn how to pronounce “Mjolnir” correctly?

Well, we don’t know if Darcy has sorted her phonetics yet but we know head-writer Jac Schaeffer has promised a “delightfully meta twist” based on the fact Kat is best known for working on 2 Broke Girls. As we know, WandaVision is heavily inspired by the world of television in general and of sitcoms in particular.

Does this mean we’ll get to see Darcy serving tables? We cannot say. Schaeffer, however, commented it was “particularly fun to bring two veteran sitcom performers into the mix” in reference to Kat and Randall Park, who reprises his role as Jimmy Woo, and who is perhaps best known for his work as the patriarchal character in the comedy series Fresh Off The Boat.

We will keep you posted on Darcy newness as more WandaVision information is released to the public.

Treat yourself to a scary sweet Halloween in the company of Kat and three of her iconic roles. We have prepared a guide that is sure to guarantee you an evening of fun whether you’re a first time viewer or rewatching the following projects.

    The Scream Team

Starting out with something for the kids, we have a Disney Channel original movie, The Scream Team (2002). Starring Kat alongside Mark Rendall, Eric Idle, Tommy Davidson and Kathy Najimy (who starred in another beloved Halloween classic, Hocus Pocus (1993)).

The story follows the moving of the Carlysle siblings, Claire (Kat) and Ian (Rendall) — and their father — into Steeple Falls for their grandfather’s funeral. As curious Ian feels his grandfather’s spirit is still around and trying to tell him something, the children discover a portal to the afterlife and a brigade of left-behind souls who are supposed to direct the souls of the newly deceased, the self-titled Soul Patrol (Idle, Davidson and Najimy).

They also learn about the town’s lore and its relationship with local pyromaniac legend Zachariah Kull. But does the legend match Zachariah’s reality? Only Claire, Ian and the ghosts can discover the truth, free Zachariah’s spirit and allow their grandfather’s soul to pass to the other side.

The Scream Team is available to watch on Disney+ (availability subject to your country’s catalogue).

    Suburban Gothic

As the black of the night falls upon us, we get R-rated with Richard Bates Jr’s Suburban Gothic (2014), a dark comedy starring Matthew Gray Gubler and Kat.

Unemployed and hopeless, Raymond (Gubler) returns home to a bullying father, unaccepting neighbours and former classmates that won’t let him forget his teenage reputation as a freak who believes in the paranormal. Lucky for him, he manages to meet with his old friend Becca (Kat), who busies herself with a bartending job and being bored of pathetic small town life in her free time.

Raymond and Becca will find life is not as boring anymore when some construction work unearths the body of a young girl thus unleashing an evil spirit whose purpose is that of harvesting the souls of the townsfolk.

Suburban Gothic is available for rent or purchase through YouTube, Google Play and Amazon, discover the service that works with your region.

    2 Broke Girls selected episodes

Finally, we revisit Kat and Beth as the sempiternal 2 Broke Girls for selected episodes full of sweets and spooks in the company of Jonathan Kite, Matthew Moy, Garrett Morris and the coolest Jennifer Coolidge.

Starting out with lots of candy in …and the Candy Manwich (S02E06), Caroline is too embarrassed to date an attractive candy-store owner nicknamed Candy Andy after a humiliating experience in his establishment. Candy Andy is played by Ryan Hansen, who has recently worked with Kat in her latest movie Friendsgiving!

In …and the extra work (S02E22), Max and Caroline are invited to be extras on a popular TV show shooting a scene in Han’s diner. When Caroline catches the director’s eye, he offers her an actual role – with strings attached and blood-stained uniforms.

In …and the Booth Babes (S05E11), there’s nerd wardrobe fun as Max and Caroline sign up to be “booth babes” in order to get into a huge gaming convention for free. Once inside, they’re shocked to see that Han’s friend has created video game characters based on them, and demand compensation.

And in …and the Stalking Dead (S06E13), Max and Caroline are cast as zombie extras when they reach the movie set in Texas. It’s thriller night!

2 Broke Girls is available to buy on Amazon Prime and Google Play, discover the service the works with your region.

Following the drop of photographs of Billie Eilish in body-fitting clothes, so contrasting with the baggy apparel that has become her trademark, dormant trolls came out of their hiding places into digital sunlight to weave ill-spirited comments about her and her body. In higher response, Billie Eilish used her platform to educate her audience and shared YouTuber Chizi Duru‘s message of real body acceptance.

Countless fans are standing up for Billie and speaking out against body-shaming, reminding everyone that bodies come in all shapes and sizes and that none of this negative commentary has any impact on Billie Eilish’s musical accomplishments and undeniable talent, celebrated in five Grammy accolades.

Today, Kat joined them via Twitter to publicly support the singer. In what reads like a personal confession, Kat compares her own physique to that of Billie’s and candidly dismisses remarks about the singer’s health or lack thereof.

Anyone reacting to @billieeilish having a normal body has to take a hard look at themselves. As someone who looked exactly like that at her age, it’d be nice for this unhealthy nonsense to fuck right off. She’s beautiful and normal goodbye!

We love it when queens support queens.

Every month we pick a book we know to be one of Kat’s favourites or one she has picked up and showcased via social media. For October, we picked The Dark Secret of Weatherend by John Bellairs, the second volume of the Anthony Monday Mysteries. Kat seems to really enjoy juvenile gothic adventures so who are we to deny them?

When Anthony Monday stumbles upon the diary of J.K. Borkman, he thinks he’s unearthed a worthless piece of junk. But Borkman’s mysterious writings turn out to be much more–plans to turn the world into an icy wasteland. By the time ghastly weather sets in and Anthony realizes it’s Borkman’s fanatical son who is bent on carrying out his father’s horrific work, it may be too late to stop him.

On today’s episode of his eponymous show on YouTube, Mike Rand hosted a talk with actor Matthew Moy, Kat’s co-star in 2 Broke Girls. On a casual talk about his career from its humble beginnings, there was no way Matthew would let 2 Broke Girls and his waitresses sit out. For your reading convenience, we wrote down a couple of highlights.

Speaking of Kat and Beth and if they’re still in touch, Matthew said:

They’re like my sisters. I truly mean that. Sisters you love, you love to laugh with, sometimes who can get on your nerves… But you know, in a sisterly way. I love them, I love them to death. I just commented on Beth’s Instagram, she just posted a video of her really nice record player and I was like ‘Beth you gotta let me put LEDs, you know, little party lights, you gotta do it’, you know? Beth and I see each other all the time, you know, when we’re getting smoothies. Kat… We’re always DMing each other about her garden or cats or something. I love them, I love them to death.

Matthew also recalled taping with Kat and how impressed he was at her memorising skills.

I was said Kat Dennings was like the quarterback of our team. She has an insane memory. One of the most vivid memories I have is that pilot episode where she has this huge monologue — I don’t remember if it was in the cold open or if it was somewhere else in the episode. Or she’s just, like, laying it on… I think it was the cold open where she’s laying it on thick for the hipsters… I believe that was a punch-up — what a punch-up is, is something that was not originally written in the script but on the night of show day, of filming, because we really only film two days, first day’s mainly all the technical stuff we can’t do in front of a live studio audience, and the second day is all the fun stuff… And I believe that was a live audience day, the second day, and the writers gave her this huge monologue, they’re like ‘oh forget all the other stuff we said, here’s this huge monologue’; she looked at it and said ‘OK, let’s do this’. And she went through the whole thing, nailed it and I just went… ‘Oh my gosh, does she have a photographic memory?’ I don’t think she does but she nearly has one. She’s amazing.

Finally, when comparing the comedic vein of the two actresses, Matthew said I believe in real life Kat’s a little more conservative than Beth, Beth’s like the goofball. Now that is saying something!

You can watch the full show and listen to Matthew talk about the whole cast, 2BG guest stars and the show’s cancellation here.

Every month we pick a book we know to be one of Kat’s favourites or one she has picked up and showcased via social media. For September, we picked On Being Blue by William H. Gass, offering a philosophical journey through the colour blue.

Of the colors, blue and green have the greatest emotional range. Sad reds and melancholy yellows are difficult to turn up. Among the ancient elements, blue occurs everywhere: in ice and water, in the flame as purely as in the flower, overhead and inside caves, covering fruit and oozing out of clay. Although green enlivens the earth and mixes in the ocean, and we find it, copperish, in fire; green air, green skies, are rare. Gray and brown are widely distributed, but there are no joyful swatches of either, or any of the exuberant black, sullen pink, or acquiescent orange. Blue is therefore most suitable as the color of interior life. Whether slick light sharp high bright think quick sour new and cool or low deep sweet dark soft slow smooth heavy old and warm: blue moves easily among them all, and all profoundly qualify our states of feeling.
