Project updates round-up
Dollface Originals Projects WandaVision

The Hollywood Critics Association TV Awards, which took place last Sunday, scored WandaVision two awards: the show won in the “Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Live Action TV Movie” category and, while Kat did not win the “Best Supporting Actress for a Limited Series, Anthology Series or Live Action TV Movie” award for which she was nominated, we are pleased to see it in the very good hands of co-star Kathryn Hahn.

Dollface has seemingly wrapped filming, as Kat posted a selfie to her Instagram captioned “she’s retired”. Last week, KABCRadio’s Gurvey’s Law show chatted with actress Fran Drescher, thus teasing her participation in the second season of Hulu’s show. Kat had previously expressed her wish of bringing Drescher to the show for the role of Jules’s mother. Unfortunately, the episode is not available online.

Finally, as for the upcoming The Sandman, Audible has released the official trailer for the second act, featuring the voice talent of James McAvoy as Morpheus, to premiere next month. Pre-order is available.

Kat Dennings talks about her Royal Canin partnership, cat health, digital age, and motivations
Press Articles

Actress and social media influencer Kat Dennings chatted with Digital Journal’s Markos Papadatos about her partnership with Royal Canin, which advocates for cat health, as well as being an actress in the digital age, and she furnished her definition of the word success.

Dennings is known for playing Max Black in the CBS sitcom “2 Broke Girls,” as well as for her portrayal of Darcy Lewis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero films “Thor,” and “Thor: The Dark World” and the Disney+ mini-series “WandaVision.”

Royal Canin

“The partnership with Royal Canin has been amazing and I really love how they advocate for cat health,” she said. “I care so much about cats and their wellbeing – from fostering (I follow a lot of fosters on Instagram, so I love that this is a priority for Royal Canin!) to educating cat lovers to stay curious about their cat’s health.”

Dennings continued, “One thing I’ve learned through my partnership is, unfortunately, half of all cats in the United States don’t receive veterinary care regularly. I’ve also recently learned, 83 percent of cats visit the vet before their first birthday, but over 50 percent don’t return until they become sick or are in pain.”

“I’m partnering with Royal Canin to urge cat owners to pledge to take their cats to the vet for annual wellness visits as part of Royal Canin’s ‘Take Your Cat To The Vet Day’ initiative,” she added.

For the cat lovers out there, she remarked, “To all my fellow cat lovers out there – please take your cat to the vet! Most cat owners say that when their cat is acting healthy, they don’t pay attention to the signs of aging, and are not sure what signs to even look for.”

“Unnoticed signs add up to cat owners not taking their cats to the vet on a yearly basis, which could lead to larger health issues, like a renal or urinary disease. Royal Canin and I are asking everyone to take the pledge to take their cat to the vet every year. Head on over to www.royalcanin.com/cathealth to take the pledge and learn more about cat health,” she said.

Motivations

Regarding her daily motivations as an actress, she said, “Even after acting for 25 years, I still can’t believe I get to essentially play pretend for a living. I feel lucky every day to do what I do!”

For young and aspiring actors, she said, “The world of acting, and the world itself, is constantly changing. Know that you’re never alone – lean on your friends and family if you have to – and be prepared to roll with the punches.”

Digital age

On being an actress in the digital age, she said, “Being an actress in the digital age has taught me a lot about the importance of adapting throughout my career. Growing up, you only had access to shows once a week or could only see a movie in the theater, then have to wait for it to come out on DVD/VHS!”

“Today, the game has totally changed,” she admitted. “Everything – new and old – is so accessible. I don’t think it’s a bad thing, I think it’s exciting. It gives audiences new ways to access your work, whether it’s safely watching it in the comfort of their own home during these crazy times or visiting the theaters.”

Regarding her definition of the word success, she concluded, “Living a life that feels authentic and fulfilling.”

Kat Dennings on If She’d Return for Another ‘Thor’ Movie or Jimmy Woo Team-up After ‘WandaVision’
Press Articles

Marvel fans were pleasantly surprised when Kat Dennings was cast in WandaVision, reprising her role as Darcy Lewis from Thor and Thor: The Dark World. The popular Marvel series became one of the most talked-about shows on Disney+ and stars Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda Maximoff), Paul Bettany (Vision) and Kathryn Hahn (Agatha). During an exclusive interview with PopCulture.com, Dennings noted how excited she was to be asked to hop on board the project.

“I was very surprised and excited,” the actress said when asked if she was shocked that the MCU pulled her into the Marvel story. “At first, I just knew they wanted to bring Darcy back. When I heard it was for WandaVision, I was very intrigued. It’s such a unique project — I think the audience really appreciated the specialness of the show.”

Darcy was introduced in the Thor films after the former political science student turned scientist came into contact with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) upon his arrival to Earth. The 35-year-old’s character — alongside Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster and Stellan Skarsgård’s Erik Selvig — helped Thor emerge successful in his clashes in both movies. Being brought into the WandVision story was not something she or fans expected, but it was certainly interesting.

Hemsworth and Portman are currently busy filming the fourth installment in the Thor franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder. As of now, it’s not believed that Dennings will return for the film. However, she did admit she’s down for anything Marvel going forward. “I’m ALWAYS up for anything Marvel asks of me!” she gushed when asked if she would be up for another Thor movie.

She’s also open to another MCU project fans have been asking for since WandaVision’s season wrapped. Marvel fans are hoping Darcy and FBI agent Jimmy Woo (played by Randall Park) will reunite one day for their own spinoff. Dennings loves the idea, but it’s all up to the minds at Marvel Studios to make it a reality. “It’s always up to the powers that be,” Dennings said. “I think they took notice of all the comments. I would do it in a heartbeat!”

In the meantime, Dennings is keeping busy with a number of projects, including her recent partnership with Royal Canin for their “Take Your Cat to the Vet Day” initiative coming up on Aug. 22. “I absolutely love cats and I always have! My cat, Millie, has been such an important part of my life ever sine I adopted her. She’s also been my rock during the pandemic. We’ve spent so much time together and it really cemented that I want to continue making her health a priority,” she said on why she wanted to partner with the pet food brand. “Half of cats in the United States don’t receive regular veterinary care. Which, if you’ve ever been around cats, you know that they don’t always show when they’re sick or need help, and you may not notice signs that could lead to bigger health concerns.” Pet lovers can visit www.royalcanin.com/cathealth to pledge to take their furry friends to the vet.

Royal Canin Enlists Kat Dennings For ‘Take Your Cat to the Vet Day’
Media Philanthropy Press Articles

Royal Canin has enlisted actress Kat Dennings and kitten rescuer Hannah Shaw to urge cat owners to take their cat to the veterinarian every year ahead of National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day.

According to a Royal Canin survey, 63% of cat owners incorrectly believe that if their cat is acting “normal” (including playing, eating, drinking, using the litter box,) they don’t need to go to the vet. Pet owners don’t take their cats to the vet until they are in distress – which is a huge problem.

Aug. 22 is National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day and Royal Canin is asking pet owners to pledge to visit the vet for an annual well visit to catch issues when they first start. Cat owners can visit www.royalcanin.com/cathealth to sign the pledge.

Dennings and Shaw (better known as the Kitten Lady) and veterinarian and reality television star Dr. Diarra Blue, teamed up to create a PSA which is running on Royal Canin’s social media accounts. Dennings will also post them to her account, per a spokesperson. B Live produced the PSA and Royal Canin is doing social in-house.

While more than forty-two million U.S. households have at least one cat, totaling more than 90 million cats, few of these cats are receiving proper medical care. In fact, more than half of all cats don’t receive veterinary care on a regular basis – 83% of cats visit the veterinarian before their first birthday, but over 50% don’t return until they become sick or are in pain, according to the pet food manufacturer.

Now in its sixth year, Royal Canin’s annual Take Your Cat to the Vet initiative works to raise awareness about this important issue and help break down the barriers that prevent cats from going to a vet more often.

Sixty-six percent of survey respondents also agree that when their cat is acting healthy, they don’t pay attention to the signs of aging, but 60% are not sure what signs to look for when their cat is aging.

Slightly more than half (52%) don’t start paying attention to preventative health care measures for their cat until they hit a certain age. Even more startling, 83% of cat owners believe “age doesn’t define my cat” and 73% think their cat acts younger than they truly are.

Cats are “private” animals, so it can be difficult to tell when they’re not feeling well, says Dr. Catherine Lenox, board certified veterinary nutritionist and regulatory veterinary manager at Royal Canin North America.

“While each annual appointment may look similar, your veterinarian is monitoring for different health concerns depending on your cat’s life stage,” Lenox says in a release.

In addition, as part of the initiative, Royal Canin is partnering with Shaw’s Orphan Kitten Club’s Mightycat grant program – the world’s first grant program targeted to saving neonatal kittens.

Every kitten season — which corresponds to warm weather months in most regions — thousands of motherless kittens are at risk of death on the streets and in animal shelters. Without a mother to care for them, kittens face impossible odds and can’t survive without specialized care.

The Orphan Kitten Club is dedicated to saving the lives of these tiny felines by rescuing them in its state-of-the-art kitten nursery, ending the cycle through sterilization, and providing care for every kitten possible.

Kat Dennings shares the fun birthday surprise she made for her cat: ‘She could not believe it’
Philanthropy Press Articles

“There’s something about the chopstick pouch that drives this cat wild,” the Wandavision star says about her pet cat’s favorite thing.

Kat Dennings will do anything to make her cat, Millie, happy!

The Dollface star, 35, tells PEOPLE exclusively about the hilarious habit her furry friend picked up — and how she eventually catered to it.

“Millie has very limited access to anything dangerous. I’m an insane helicopter mom when it comes to her. This cat loves anytime I get sushi takeout or delivery or whatever, and you know how the chopsticks come in that little chopstick pouch? There’s something about the chopstick pouch that drives this cat wild,” the actress, who’s partnered with Royal Canin to raise awareness about their National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day campaign, says about her cat’s quirk.

“She loves the empty chopstick pouch. She hoarded that,” she continues. “She would find one and drag it upstairs and hide it, and I just found this little stash of empty chopstick pouches.”

Dennings once went the extra mile to pull off an “insane” chopstick pouch feat for Millie’s birthday.

“I saved all the chopsticks pouches for months and months, and I surprised her. She sat on the bed, and I filmed it in slow motion — again, I know, I’m insane. I threw a hundred chopstick wrappers into the air and filmed her reaction, and she could not believe it,” she says. “So I don’t know if that story says more about Millie or about me.”

When it comes to caring for Millie, Dennings jokes that she’s “a crazy person.” The 2 Broke Girls alum recalls how she previously “flipped out” when Millie licked up a small drop of her facial cleanser that accidentally fell on the cat’s bed.

“I flipped out, and I called a pet poison hotline. I was like, ‘Kill me!’ They were like, ‘What’s in the cleanser?’ I was like, ‘Oh, this, this, this!'” Dennings says of the incident. “I mean, it was absolutely safe. She did end up being fine, but I had to tell him how much she weighed; I had to tell him how much of what was in the cleanser.”

Dennings is teaming up with Royal Canin to help encourage cat owners to take their felines to the vet annually. With National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day approaching on Aug. 22, Dennings says that raising awareness about the perks of preventive veterinary care “is a timely issue.”

“I’m an enormous cat lover. Of course, I love all animals, but cats have a special place in my heart. Cats are very mysteriously elegant. And that’s both a blessing and a curse,” the WandaVision star says.

“I think as cat owners, we know that our cats are very … I keep saying the word mysterious, but it’s true. They don’t really show the signs of illness. When they don’t feel well, they’re really, really good at hiding it,” she continues. “It is something really important as cat owners that we need to realize, which is we really do need to take our cats to the vet annually every year, or as needed.”

By going to Royal Canin’s official website, cat owners can find abundant resources to help them keep their felines happy and healthy.

Never in my life have I approached a brand ASKING to partner with them out of sheer adoration. As a passionate (yet not remotely professional) gardener, I’ve become obsessed with only allowing REAL FRUIT (not “natural flavor” – actual fruit) into my consumables. Once I realized that everything I was drinking was “flavored”, I went on the hunt. I discovered @drinkspindrift which is the FIRST sparkling water made with 100% ONLY REAL SQUEEZED FRUIT and I became an absolute psycho, slowly converting my friends and family to the Drifter lifestyle.
